The goal of this committee is to improve immunization rates in Central Texas. Members achieve this goal by assisting at immunization clinics, serving on regional committees and various other projects during the year. Spanish speakers are encouraged to sign up for this committee.
The
TCMA community outreach program, Be-Wise Immunize, will be assisting the UT
Children's Wellness Center again this summer with their "Back to School
Immunization Day" on Saturday, August 14th. The immunizations are
free, and all that is required is the child's shot record. The children
served by the clinic are predominately Hispanic, low-income, and medically
underserved. TCMA will assist the shot clinic by providing publicity for
the immunizations, and by providing volunteers from the Be-Wise committee for
the day to help direct people and assist with their paperwork. TCMA will
also be assisting the clinic by providing water bottles for the patients, lunch
for the staff, and goodie bags for the kids getting immunizations! Last
summer the clinic immunized 1,092 people and gave 2,881 vaccine doses!
With immunization requirements changing once again this year, the TCMA
looks forward to another record year! Volunteers are needed to work the 9am-12pm shift.
Please Contact Amy Roberts for more information or to volunteer for this hands-on opportunity.
